Rotary International is the world’s first service club organisation, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto “Service Above Self”.
The Rotary Club of Barbados South sought to create of a well-equipped fully inclusive playground facility for all children with or without disabilities. At present, there are a few well equipped public playgrounds/facilities on the island for children with no disabilities but absolutely none for children with disabilities. The Inclusive Play project will create an extraordinary, barrier-free recreational facility where children with disabilities can develop essential skills for life and interact in a play environment with non-disabled children. The facility will include a recreational centre, a playground area with specialised equipment and a water feature.
