The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados was founded on 18 April 1985 under the Companies Act 1982 of Barbados (Registered Charity No. 269) and under the Charities Act 1979. The Foundation is committed to being involved in many lifestyle initiatives and is preparing to embark upon an aggressive and intensive external and internal marketing effort in 2012. This is being done in an effort to increase public awareness of the Foundation and the services it provides to its Stakeholders in the prevention and rehabilitation of heart disease. Since its inception The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados has developed and currently has in place two major long-term programmes. (Cardiac Disease Prevention & Rehabilitation Programme and Emergency Cardiac Care Programme)
Project Summary
Through the grant provided by the Trust to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados, they will have the funds to enhance and develop the Cardiac Disease Prevention & Rehabilitation Department as well as the procurement of essential and vital equipment for the Emergency Cardiac Care Department which would be beneficial to the Foundation’s clients. The Heart & Stroke Foundation will educate Barbadians on Emergency Cardiac Care and actions to be taken in times of emergency, prevention of heart disease and afford those persons in need with the opportunity to receive cardiac rehabilitation.
