Project Summary
The Sunshine Coach Programme is one of the many programmes offered by Variety to the children of Barbados. The programme initially donates coaches to schools and institutions that cater for children who are mentally and physically challenged, providing them with much needed transportation to travel to and from school and other important appointments for therapy. The Sunshine Coach Programme falls under the “Freedom for Kids Programme”, which provides transportation as well as wheel chairs and other mobility devices for children. The donation of a bus from The Maria Holder Memorial Trust will mean that up to 19 children per day will be transported to school or day care. The bus will be used to transport children to physiotherapy appointments on a weekly basis and will be used to take the children on special outings for social and educational events.
