The Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development (MSCD), is the lead Ministry responsible for the conduct of the CALC (Country Assessment Living Conditions) in Barbados. The Ministry was re-named in October 2010, replacing the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban and Rural Development.
Skateboarding is the 3rd most popular recreational activity for children between 6 to 18 years of age. It is a healthy, physical activity that anyone can enjoy and it provides a creative outlet that conventional sports do not.
Project Summary
By creating a Skatepark within the densely populated Bush Hall, St Michael area, it will provide the community as a whole with a recreational outlet that is safe, secure, interesting and fun. It will help the youth to build their social athletic skills with other like-minded youth. The Skatepark will not only benefit those in the community and surrounding areas but visitors who skateboard that visit the island as well as those who wish to learn about the sport.
