The Salvation Army is an International Organisation and registered as a charity in Barbados, having its own distinctive governance and practices. Its charitable objectives are “the advancement of the Christian religion and, pursuant thereto, the advancement of education, the relief of poverty and other charitable objectives beneficial to society or the community of mankind as a whole”.
This project includes the renovation of the Salvation Army’s existing Lighthouse building in Speightstown to enable the Corps to maintain and expand its current services and programmes to the people within the community. The renovation will provide a multi-purpose Centre for the conduct of community based activities in Speightstown by enhancing the learning opportunities of both young people and adults through the provision of various programmes. This Centre will also offer an expansion of the Salvation Army Feeding programme to the north of the Island and provide a temporary shelter in the event of an emergency.
