Island Academy International School was founded in 2001 and is a non-profit organisation. The school was founded to offer students in Antigua and Barbuda an alternative world-class educational platform. In 2009, Island Academy was approved as an International Baccalaureate World School. This designation allows Island Academy International School to be the only school in Antigua and Barbuda that offers this prestigious programme, recognized by universities around the world. Today, Island Academy is one of the premiere educational institutions in Antigua and Barbuda, which serves students from Kindergarten through 18 years. It is co-educational with 230 students and is known for the diversity of its student population.
Project Summary
Provision of scholarships/bursaries for children who come from poor communities and would not otherwise be able to afford to attend the Island Academy School. Through the various academic programmes students are provided the opportunity to develop their creative and artistic instincts through offerings in the arts and music. They are encouraged to participate in community service activities so that they understand the value of giving as well as receiving from the society in which they live.
