The Parkinson Memorial Secondary School is a co-educational public secondary school, located in the Pine St. Michael. It was opened on 22 February 1961.
Project Summary
The School is currently in need of an Industrial Arts Block as the previous building was derelict and had not been in use for many years. The new facility would allow for the continuation of technical vocational classes on site in a safe environment as the children currently have to utilise neighbouring school facilities.
This is a joint venture between the Government of Barbados and The Maria Holder Memorial Trust. The proposed Industrial Arts Block is a much needed upgrade for the school. The vision for the facility is commensurate with the necessary intention to set the requisite high standards required to positively impact the staff and students of the school in every area of endeavour. The new building will enable the offering of continuing education programmes to the wider public (fee paying) as well, with particular focus on the Caribbean Vocational Qualifications and to include other courses. This will benefit the school’s finances and programmes in general.
