Barbados Council for the Disabled (Bus)

The Barbados Council for the Disabled is a non-governmental umbrella body partnering with all sectors of the community and international agencies to effect change and champion the rights of all persons with disabilities, ensuring their full and effective integration into society.  Their vision is the realisation of a society that values, respects, empowers, accepts and includes all persons with disabilities and the recognition of the council as a catalyst in this process.

Project Summary

The Barbados Council for the Disabled transports its clients to their various meetings, hospital appointments and extra-curricular activities.  For over ten (10) years, the Barbados Council for the Disabled has been providing accessible transport to children with disabilities.  The Maria Holder Memorial Trust’s donation of a bus to the Barbados Council for the Disabled will ensure that there is adequate transportation coverage for the various needs of the organisation.  The bus will be used as a shuttle service for those persons with disabilities who cannot be facilitated by the Government owned buses.  In addition, it will also provide transportation for visitors to the island who have become more aware of the services provided by the Barbados Council for the Disabled and are utilising its services more frequently.
