The Disaster Relief Fund 2014

On 24 December 2013 St. Vincent and the Grenadines was affected by a storm which caused severe flooding and as a result 3.11 inches (79.22mm) of rainfall was reported by the Meteorology Office. Nine people were confirmed dead while three people were reported missing. There were fifty thousand people without water. The government declared it a Level 2 disaster. No warning was received, therefore, no response procedures were activated. Of the 109,373 people residing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 13,029 people have been directly affected in the disaster declared areas; 500 people have been displaced island wide; 200 in shelters.

Project Summary

The Trust’s donation will provide medical equipment for the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital as there was a critical list for support in that area. A donation was also made to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross which will enable them to assist persons wherever needed.
