Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society

The Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society was registered as an Antiguan charity under the Friendly Societies Act in August 1991 and subsequently incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the Companies Act in January 2004. The Humane Society is associated with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Its primary missions are to improve the welfare of animals through humane education and the prevention of cruelty to animals, and to offer shelter and humane care to all animals in need of protection in Antigua and Barbuda.

Project Summary

Funding will assist with renovation of the Olivers clinic building which was damaged by a hurricane. The Government of Antigua and Barbuda will provide the labour to complete the construction/rehabilitation work. The completed building will provide the necessary infrastructure for on-going spay/neuter clinics; office space for animal welfare workers and dog control officers and also humane education, training and counselling. The overall objective of the Project is to provide all healthy and treatable shelter dogs with new homes, to implement preventative measures such as spaying and neutering and rehabilitated.
